The ash heather is a small shrub of the Ericaceae family with erect branches, which is commonly found in the moors and siliceous woods of most of France. It presents purplish pink flowers, in the form of bells, are grouped in elongated clusters and give rise to hairless capsules. The leaves grouped by 3, a few millimeters long, are linear and narrow, and marked with a furrow below.
